Salvation

What is Salvation?

  • Salvation can be defined as deliverance from sin and its consequences.
  • Sin is an offense against God, and the consequences of sin is death.
    • “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” (Romans 6:23)

  • Salvation is the free gift of eternal life. Free to us, but paid for with the blood of our Lord, Jesus Christ.

Why do I need Salvation?

  • We all need salvation because we were all born sinners, and salvation is necessary in order to spend eternity in Heaven with God.
    • As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one.” (Romans 3:10)

    • “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.” (Romans 3:23)

  • Nothing we can do will ever be good enough to save ourselves. Not by our good works or good behavior. Absolutely nothing. It requires a perfect sacrifice, and the only perfect, sinless, sacrifice that has ever lived, is Jesus Christ.

How do I get Salvation?

  • Getting salvation is as simple as learning your ABC’s:
    • Admit – We must realize our sinful nature, admit to God that we are a sinner, and repent (ask forgiveness of our sins).
    • Believe – We must, by faith, believe that Jesus came to this earth, was born of a virgin, lived a perfect sinless life, was crucified, and on the 3rd day was risen to life from the grave, and is now seated to the right hand of his father, in heaven, serving as a mediator for us.  Jesus’ death on the cross provided the perfect sacrifice and payment for everyone’s sin.
      • “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” (John 3:16 )

      • “But God commendeth His love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” (Romans 5:8)

      • “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God. Not of works, lest any man should boast.” (Ephesians 2:8-9)

    • Confess – We must confess with our mouth that Jesus is Lord of our life.
      • “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised Him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.” (Romans 10:9-10)

* Salvation is only available through Jesus Christ because of the sacrifice He made on the cross. It is available to everyone, regardless of your race, social status, job, past, etc. We all need salvation because we are all sinners. Each and every one of us deserve to take the judgement for our sin and to go to Hell. Through God’s love, grace and mercy, He willingly sent His only son, Jesus, to be the perfect sacrifice and take on the sins of everyone, so that if we just simply believe in him through faith, and ask forgiveness for our sins, we can exchange our ticket for Hell for an eternal heavenly home with our Lord and Savior.
