In 2015, the Lord led David Horne and David Edwards to plan, organize, and start the first men’s mission group at Union Grove. This group works alongside NC Baptist Men to work in the local community as well as areas that have been affected by disaster. The goal is to serve the Lord by providing for a physical need but also taking the opportunity to share the love of Jesus to try and also meet spiritual needs too. One year after the brotherhood group was formed, David Horne was diagnosed with cancer. After fighting this battle, God took David home to Heaven and in honor of David and the work he did to help form this brotherhood group, the group became known as “The David Horne Brotherhood”.
